Berrien County doesn't have the highest numbers in Michigan for car-deer crashes, but the 746 last year were significantly higher than the 488 in Cass County and 620 in Van Buren County. Lori Conarton of the Michigan Deer Crash Coalition says drivers from Grand Rapids south have the biggest chance of hitting a deer as they start running this fall.
There were over 53-thousand car-deer accidents last year in the state, with eight people being killed as a result.
