During Thursday night's League of Women Voters forum for candidates running for the 79th district state house seat, candidate Julee Laurent said she is frustrated that Democrats throughout southwest Michigan are afraid to reveal they exist in the area. She says many Democrats are close to the center along with Republicans on many issues, so they should not be afraid to show off their party. Laurent says she hopes for more openness before elections.
Laurent says her comments were sparked by what she saw during the 2008 campaign season.
Laurent hopes more democrats or people who support democrats campaign more.
