Abigail Kopf, the youngest victim of February’s mass shooting in Kalamazoo is back in the hospital after an infection made a comeback. A brief note on her recovery Facebook page and the family’s GoFundMe says a MRSA infection has returned. It appeared in June after a surgery in Kalamazoo to insert a plastic plate to close a gap in her skull. Because of the infection, doctors had to remove the plate, delaying her recovery at that time. The update gives no details about the nature of this new infection or the prognosis for the 14-year-old. She had hoped to return to school this fall, but the setbacks mean she will be tutored at home.
