Benton Harbor City Manager Darwin Watson says the local parks conservancy will be looking into how to handle the issue of the restrooms at Union Park. Last week, vandalism at the recently-opened restroom facility was discovered, leading to its closure. Watson says it’s since reopened, and a plan is being considered for its maintenance.

“It’s something that we’re working on to get something in place so that we can ensure that they’re clean and nice for people who go up there and use them,” Watson told WSJM.

The restroom facility at Union Park was opened as part of a more than $450,000 renovation project that was completed in June. Watson says the damage discovered last week was minor, and he’s not aware of any major repairs that were made necessary.
