The city of St. Joseph is currently in the process of replacing two key officials, and the applications are in. City Manager John Hodgson says, first, the city is looking for fill the job of clerk and finance director, which will remain combined. After that, they’ll look at hiring a new public safety director.

“Applications for those were due last week,” Hodgson told WSJM. “We had at least 29 applicants. Those applicants are being pre-screened by a Michigan Municipal League recruiter, and they’ll be getting information on that so a committee can start winnowing that down.”

Hodgson couldn’t say who the applicants are, or whether any are local. A committee will schedule the public safety director interviews after the clerk and finance director have been picked. Hodgson says the city has received eight applications for that job.
