The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s is coming up Saturday in St. Joseph. Walk manager Kristin Burt says they will welcome anyone, and even their dogs, at the event. She says “anyone with a brain is at risk for this disease, and that’s why we want anyone and everyone to come to this walk and have more awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and help us raise funds that can help find a cure.”

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a ceremony at 9 and the walk begins at 9:30 at the Silver Beach Carousel. The route is two miles. Burt says the Alzheimer’s Association has a toll-free help line available for anyone struggling with the disease.

“People can call 800-272-3900 help line,” 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year says Burt. “Caregivers or people with the disease can call and seek advice, or just ask any questions. We do try to be there for the caregivers because we realize that it’s such a hard disease to deal with.”

As of Thursday, over $27,000 had been raised of a $57,000 goal. More information is available online at alz.org.
