An agreement between eight Michigan community colleges is now in place that will allow students to transfer credits between the schools in pursuit of advanced manufacturing jobs. Macomb Community College President Jim Jacobs describes why the agreement is important.

“For the first time in Michigan, community colleges will recognize each others’ programs in advanced manufacturing technology and provide us with the first really statewide curriculum in advanced manufacturing technology,” Jacobs said.

Jacobs says if the agreement is successful, they hope to expand to other industries as well, like information technology. Jacobs says this is a way for community colleges to more effectively and efficiently provide jobs for students, along with skilled workers for manufacturers.
