Michigan First Lady Sue Snyder is calling on the state legislature to come up with a plan for mandating procedures to be followed when a sexual assault is reported on a college or high school campus. She spoke at a summit at U of M Friday, telling the crowd everyone should be on the same page when there’s a rape.
“We would like to get some legislation in place to get everybody on the same page when one of these incidents happens, where our survivors are going to be respected, wherever they are, and feel comfortable to speak up because, right now, that’s not the case,” Snyder said.
Sex assaults have been a major concern this year at Grand Valley State University. The school in Allendale, near Grand Rapids, has had four incidents reported since April.
