The Grand Rapids-based Bissell Pet Foundation is once again planning to empty out the shelters this month. Last year, the group helped find homes for more than 2,800 cats and dogs with a couple of events in which it paid the adoption expenses at shelters around the state. Spokesperson Holly Kroeze tells WSJM News they’re doing it again April 29.

“We’re paying 100% of the adoption fee,” Koeze said. “All pets are going to be spayed or neutered, they’re going to be vaccinated, and micro chipped.”

Kroeze says now is the time to start reaching out to a shelter near you to find out what you’ll need to do to qualify for a furry friend. Taking part in the April 29 Empty the Shelter day will be the Al-Van Humane Society in South Haven. You can find out more at Bissell.org/ETS.
