Lakeland Health has been named one of the 15 best small health systems in the nation. The distinction comes courtesy of Truven Health Analytics, a provider of information to health systems around the country. Lakeland was also recognized by Truven as a top 100 hospital in 2014. The top 15 study from this year looked at 337 health systems and nearly 2,300 hospitals. It than ranked the top 15 overall based on patient outcomes, the process of care, extended outcomes, efficiency, and the patient experience. It said Lakeland offers shorter emergency wait times, fewer in-hospital deaths, fewer complications, and shorter hospital stays than average.
