A South Haven Army veteran is planning to honor American soldiers who have died in Afghanistan with a special event this Memorial Day. Major Craig Massey served in the Army from 1969 to 1993, and then reenlisted to serve in 2009. He tells WSJM News he’ll be at South Haven City Hall at noon Memorial Day to read the names of all 2,300-plus Afghanistan war dead.

“It’s just something to do to remember the fallen,” Massey said.

Massey did the same thing in 2014. He expects it will take about 2 and a half hours to reach all of the names. Earlier in the day, starting at 9 a.m., will be the South Haven Memorial Day parade.
