There’s plenty going on in Buchanan in the next few days. That’s because they’re holding the Memorial Day Parade and the annual Unsanctioned event. Randy Hendrixson, with the chamber of commerce, tells WSJM News Unsanctioned is an celebration put on by downtown merchants who just want people to know about what they do. They started it in 2008, and this year it’s all about makers.

“We have a synergy of local craftsman that are doing a lot of really awesome work here in Buchanan,” Hendrixson said. “They have their products all of the world, and we’re going to highlight them this Saturday. They’re going to do their demonstrations on the downtown sidewalk.”

Demos include wood carving and wood work, fiber arts, netting, metal work, stained glass, painting, and more. They’ll be out all over the downtown from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Also, the annual Memorial Day Parade is set for 10 a.m. Monday. It will be downtown.
