Michigan State Police are watching the roads closely this Memorial Day weekend. Lieutenant Dale Hinz, out of the Paw Paw post, tells WKZO News they’ll have extra patrols going on and focused on dangerous and impaired drivers.

“We’ve seen an increase int he last couple years of traffic fatalities,” Hinz said. “Last Memorial Day, we had six in Michigan.”

Michigan State Police are hoping to reverse that trend. Every Paw Paw-based trooper will work the holiday. Hinz says the story is likely similar at posts statewide.
