Volunteers from the Salvation Army in west Michigan are on standby to be sent down south to help with hurricane relief efforts. West Michigan Division Commander Major Glen Caddy tells WSJM News the Salvation Army already has some volunteers from southern chapters helping out.

“A lot of the work that’s being done is feeding and hydration and sheltering,” Caddy said. “They’re supporting the first responders who are still in the  rescue operations as well as providing shelter operations. Many of our volunteers are operating out of mobile feeding kitchens or canteens.”

Caddy tells us he’s got a few dozen people ready and able to head down south should they be needed. The organization could also use your help. You can donate at HelpSalvationArmy.org, or by texting STORM To 51555. Caddy notes all of the money donated will actually go to hurricane relief.
