Monday is the 16th anniversary since  nearly 3,000 people were killed when four hijacked planes hit the trade center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field on Sept. 11, 2001. The commemoration begins with a moment of silence at 8:46 am, the time when the first terrorist-piloted plane crashed into the World Trade Center’s north tower.
