Auto insurance reform is on the move in the Michigan legislature. That’s after a package of bills was supported Thursday by the state House Insurance Committee. State Representative Curt Vanderwall spoke with Michigan News Network about the need for auto insurance reform.
“It is significant,” Vanderwall said. “It gives us an opportunity to bring this bill to the floor and work on more issues so we can give true savings to automobile drivers back in my district and throughout the state.”
The Ludington Republican says all insurance costs would decrease under the bill, which allows drivers to choose from three levels of catastrophic medical coverage. However, the change didn’t win over Democrats. The bill ended up passing 9-5-2 without Democratic support.
