While you’re taking part in Small Business Saturday sales this weekend, one place you may want to go is Buchanan. That’s because the downtown area is hosting special events for White Saturday. The Buchanan Downtown Development Authority’s Barbara Wallace tells WSJM News the festivities are about celebrating Buchanan and having some fun.

“That is focused on supporting small businesses in town, and then you’re finishing off the day with a special holiday parade,” Wallace said.

Wallace tells us you can benefit your community by shopping local this Saturday.

“The great thing about shopping locally is that it’s putting dollars back into your local community, and I think it’s also a great opportunity to find unique gifts, to find gifts for your friends and family that are tough to buy for,” Wallace said.

Also taking place as part of White Saturday is a luminary festival. Santa will be at the Buchanan library starting at 11 a.m. and you can make ornaments at the art center. The parade starts at 5:30 in the historic downtown district, and the official Christmas tree will be lit right after. You can find out more right here.
