Hartford Area Standoff Ends After 8 Hours

No one was hurt in a Van Buren County standoff that lasted most of the day Wednesday. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department tell;s MLive a Hartford-area man robbed a mechanic’s shop around 8 a.m. and then barricaded himself inside his home in the area of County Road 687 and 48th Avenue. A SWAT team was brought in to talk with the man. It took about eight hours, but police eventually got him into custody. The sheriff’s department says the standoff was difficult for deputies due to the extreme cold and snow. No shots were fired in the standoff.
