A state career academy for the disabled will hold a graduation ceremony this weekend for 184 students in southwest Michigan. The Michigan Career and Technical Institute, located in Plainwell, has 13 training programs. Michigan Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson Bob Wheaton spoke with WSJM News about the institute last year.

“Automotive technology, cabinet making, mill work, certified nursing assistant, culinary arts, custodial, electronics, ground maintenance, pharmacy technician,” Wheaton said. “Just a whole variety of different careers.”

Wheaton says students come from all over the state to live and study at the Michigan Career and Technical Institute. It has an 80% job placement rate, and the graduation is Saturday. This crop of students includes two from Paw Paw and one from St. Joseph.
