It’s pothole season in southwest Michigan, and if you’ve driven on I-94 or I-196 you already know that. The Michigan Department of Transportation’s Nick Schrippa tells WSJM News the road crews are filling potholes and you can help by reporting where those potholes are.

“We’re aware of what potholes can do because we hit them, too,” Schirripa said.

Schirripa says up and down temperatures along with heavy traffic cause those potholes and keep MDOT crews busy.

“If you go to our website, Michigan.gov/MDOT, you can report state trunkline potholes right there,” Schirripa said.

MDOT asks that you give their crews a wide berth when passing them on the highway. You can also report potholes by phone at 1-888-296-4546.
