Three people are now in custody following a couple of police chases on Wednesday in Van Buren County.

Michigan State Police tell us troopers were involved in two separate chases with the same suspects, one of whom was wanted on theft charges in Indiana.

The first chase began and ended in Paw Paw on M-40 near First Street around 1 p.m. The suspect crashed his vehicle, but then he and his wife ran from the scene.

Police say the two were later picked up by two people from Indiana, and it was with that vehicle that the second chase happened.

Police spotted and stopped the second vehicle on M-40 around 4 p.m. The driver was pushed out of the vehicle, and then it took off on M-40 with the husband and wife and a passenger.

The chase ended when troopers used a pit maneuver to stop the vehicle near 102nd Avenue. The suspect and his wife were taken into custody along with their third passenger. No one was injured in either of the chases.
