St. Joseph City Manager John Hodgson continues work to get life rings installed along the north pier in time for this summer. Following Monday’s St. Joe City Commission meeting, he told WSJM News the talks with other agencies continue.

“We’re internally coordinating that,” Hodgson said. “We’re also coordinating that with external partners. The Coast Guard, the Corps of Engineers, historical agencies. We’re meeting with the county on Wednesday morning, and hopefully with feedback we’ll have a plan we can bring back to the city commission in two weeks.”

Hodgson says he’s confident they’ll have the north pier life rings installed by Memorial Day. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department has offered to manage their maintenance as long as the city installs them.
