Senate Considering Nassar Bills

The state Senate has before it a package of sexual assault bills prompted by the Larry Nassar scandal at Michigan State University. Some had been modified by the House, and Representative Klint Kesto told Michigan News Network he’s calling on the Senate to approve the bills and send them to Governor Snyder.

“My only suggestion would be let’s get them done, but let’s be cognizant of what was done in the House,” Kesto said.

Kesto is a suburban Detroit Republican and co-chaired the House investigation into Nassar with Berrien County Republican Kim LaSata. Some in the Senate have taken issue with a few changes made by the House, including removing a provision that paid coaches be required to report any sexual abuse they may see.
