The new Michigan Apprenticeships Experience Sooner campaign kicked off Monday in Kalamazoo. Stephanie Beckhorn is the director of the Michigan Workforce Development Agency. She tells us the program is a collaboration between the state, education institutions, and businesses.

“Kalamazoo Valley Community College and west Michigan employers have been so great to work with,” Beckhorn said. “It’s so appropriate to kick this campaign off at a community college because they play such an integral role. They help develop the curriculum, and they develop the classroom component.”

The 13 new apprenticeships will be offered in multiple disciplines, including IT, welding, and advanced manufacturing. The state has launched the apprenticeship program to connect young workers with training programs. You can find out more at MIApprenticeship.org.
