A five point plan has been introduced by Democratic Secretary of State candidate Jocelyn Benson to ensure that upcoming elections are executed safely. The plan involves stringent post-election audits, standardized poll worker training and the formation of a commission of election experts to maintain the accuracy of Michigan elections. She was asked if her plan can be done without any input from the federal government.

“It certainly doesn’t hurt to have support from the federal government along with input from other experts in other states,” said Benson. “We must do everything we can in Michigan within our ability to protect our system, and we must seek those partnerships at every level, even with experts in other countries.”

The plan was detailed at Tuesday’s Michigan Association of County Clerks’ annual conference.
