The Berrien County Health Department is advising everyone to get their flu shot before October ends. Spokesperson Gillian Conrad tells WSJM News the shot and the nasal spray are widely available, including at the health department. They’re going to hold Flu Shot Fridays every Friday starting next week and through December.

“That is in our Benton Harbor and our Niles locations,” Conrad said. “People are encouraged to come on in on a Friday if that is convenient for you and you can get your flu vaccine. We do have appointments available for other days of the week if there is a better time for you.”

The Berrien County Health Department website also has a widget that you can enter your zip code into and then find locations offering the flu vaccine nearby. Conrad says more than 80,000 people were killed by the flu last year in the United States. She reminds everyone that getting a flu vaccine not only protects the person getting the shot, but everyone around them.
