The Michigan House has approved a resolution from state Representative Mary Whiteford to declare September PACE Awareness Month. The Casco Township Republican tells us PACE, or Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly, helps keep senior Michiganders from having to live in nursing homes.

“PACE will make sure that they stay at home, that they have caretakers who will come to their home,” Whiteford said. “If this person if capable, they can actually get a bus ride over to the center in Holland and be around other people, get therapy.”

PACE is run by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Whiteford says during its 23 years, the program has enabled seniors to stay independent and be active in their communities. You can find out more about the PACE program right here.
