With this being Fire Prevention Week, South Haven Area Emergency Services is planning to hold its annual Fire Safety Fun Night on Thursday. Executive Director Ron Wise tells WSJM News everyone’s welcome to bring the kids down to Fire Station 3 on Blue Star Highway from 5 to 8 p.m.

“It’s a great time for kids and their parents to come to the fire station and see the fire trucks,” Wise said. “We’re going to have lots of games that the kids can play and there’s prizes for the games.”

Firefighters will also demonstrate a rescue from a vehicle and put out a propane fire. Wise says it’s good fun for the kids.

“They love the games,” Wise said. “They get to come and spray water out of the fire hoses into some make believe fires, they get to run a firefighter agility course, and they have a way to practice who to get out of your home.”

Wise says hundreds of people show up for Fire Safety Fun Night. He wants to teach the kids about the importance of escape routes, staying low, and having a meeting place in the event of a fire. There will also be hot dogs and drinks for everyone.
