An overnight freeze finally happened in west Michigan this week. The temp dropped to below 32 on Wednesday night, and in many places, that was the first hard frost of the season. National Weather Service Meteorologist in Grand Rapids Nathan Jeruzal spoke with WKZO News about the freeze.

“A hard freeze, I believe, is officially when you get down below like 28 degrees,” Jeruzel said. “That differs a little bit as far as local spots. Low areas and high areas are different.”

Jeruzel says any plants you may have left outside overnight are probably in trouble. A positive of the freeze — it finally ends mosquito season.
