Former Michigan State University president Lou Anna Simon is now officially facing charges in Eaton County, just west of Lansing. She’s been charged with lying to police, regarding if she knew former sports doctor Larry Nassar was under investigation for sexual abuse. Her attorney Lee Silver says the charges are bogus.

“We are confident that when all of the true facts come out, Dr. Simon will be exonerated and these charges will be proven to have no merit whatsoever,” says Silver.

Silver says he’s yet to see any documents or emails to support these charges. Simon is still a professor at MSU and has taken an unpaid leave of absence. The university is covering her legal fees.
