It’s not too often drivers in Michigan can say they’re getting a nice Christmas present at the gas pump, but that’s where we stand right now. Triple A Michigan’s Nancy Cain says prices are at two-year lows for the holiday right now.

“Very good Christmas present, as Michigan gas prices are down, and down significantly,” Cain tells WSJM News. “Right now across the state, we’re looking at an average of $2.26 a gallon, and that’s down 8¢ from a week ago, 25¢ less than a month ago.”

Cain says prices are down 75¢ a gallon in the last two months. In the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph area, prices have dropped 10¢ from last week and now stand at $2.21 a gallon according to AAA. In South Haven, which isn’t included in the auto club’s survey, prices are significantly lower, with one station at $2.02 and others selling regular unleaded for no more than $2.06 according to GasBuddy.
