Southwest Michigan is about to get hit with some significant snow. WNDU meteorologist David Harker tells WSJM News we’re looking at six to eight inches starting Friday night through Saturday afternoon.

“In my eyes, I always think of six inches as significant snow, something that is going to put a lot of damper on travel, and the fact that we’re going to see blowing snow with this with gusts as high as 30 to 35 miles per hour,” Harker said. “That’s what’s going to make travel treacherous.”

Harker says that blowing snow will be the biggest problem, along with freezing temperatures. He says the Sunday high is expected to only be about 15 degrees, while the low is expected to be around eight. He reminds everyone to give themselves extra time if traveling. Avoid traveling altogether if that’s possible. Harker adds we can expect the frigid temperatures to remain with us next week.
