Bill Would Ban E-Cigarette Sales To Minors

Legislation has been introduced in the Michigan House to ban the sale of e-cigarettes to minors. State Representative Thomas Albert of Lowell tells us e-cigarette sales are a gray area of the law.

“The 20th century tobacco regulations just aren’t working as the industry’s changed,” Albert said. “These vaping products are vastly different than cigarettes, and they’re in no-man’s land.”

The bill would ban the sale of any device that allows minors to consume vaporized nicotine. Albert says many schools have banned e-cigarettes, but the law has not caught up. A co-sponsor of his plan is state Representative Beth Griffin of Mattawan.
