The Cass County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a missing and endangered elderly man. It says 78-year-old Larry Waldschmidt was reported missing from the 2,400 block of Jefferson Street in Dowagiac by a family member around 6 p.m. Wednesday. He was last seen working in the yard around 5:30 p.m. and police say it appears he got into the family vehicle and left. They tell us Waldschmidt has some Alzheimer’s, and has a critical need for insulin. He left without his medications, identification, and money. He was driving a 2002 white Ford Escape with a Michigan handicap registration of H-1499. He was wearing gray sweat pants and a gray sweat shirt with black tennis shoes. A Silver Alert has been issued. Anyone with information on Waldschmidt’s location is asked to contact police.
