This coming week will be all about developing a global perspective at Lake Michigan College. LMC Internationalization Committee member Amy Scrima tells WSJM News it’s International Education Week, a series of events featuring food and discussion. Tuesday brings a talk about food with a Mexico City-based chef, and then Wednesday will feature an international cuisine potluck at the Hawk’s Nest.

“Understanding something about someone through food can be kind of a catalyst for understanding broader issues of getting along and respect for each other even though we’re different,” Scrima said.

Scrima says that will be open to all students. Thursday will feature a discussion with child welfare advocate Vasundhra Sharma, who will speak from New Delhi, India. Scrima tells us the goal of International Education Week is to help students develop an international perspective to be ready for a world economy and global citizenship.
