The Friends of the St. Joseph Library are preparing for a rare book sale this week. Friends of the Library President Rebecca Marsden tells WSJM News the sale will be upstairs at the library Thursday through Saturday, while the regular spring book sale takes place downstairs. Marsden says they’ve got a wide range of old books available.

“744 at last count, and they cover all sorts of subjects,” Marsden said. “History, literature, there’s some poetry in there, there are some things on religion, there are even some juvenile fiction books.”

The oldest book is from 1848, and Marsden says they have hundreds from before 1950. She tells us these rare and old books will start out at $5, and go as high as $400. People donate them throughout the year. Among the rarities are a first edition Hardy Boys book from the 1930s and a set of books on teaching moral lessons to children. The hours of the sale will be 10:15 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, 10:15 to 5:30 Friday, and 10:15 to 2 p.m. Saturday.
