The United Way of Southwest Michigan has kicked off another Christmas in June food drive. With summer almost here, local food pantries are expecting to see supplies dwindle, and so United Way Campaign Director Charlotte Becker tells WSJM News they’re asking everyone to collect items.

“We’re reaching out to businesses and individuals to hold a collection drive,” Becker said. “If you are a business, you can collect up until June 12, and then we have two drop off sites, one at First Church of God in St. Joseph, and one at the Berrien County Youth Fairgrounds.”

That’s on June 12. In the meantime, you can also drop off items at any United Federal Credit Union or Greater Niles Community Federal Credit Union location, or you can collect things yourself and take them to the drop off site on June 12. Becker says Christmas in June made a big difference last year.

“We have a four way challenge for some of our biggest companies in the area to go head to head to see who can collect the most items for this event.”

Helping this time around is a four-way competition between Indiana Michigan Power, Gast Manufacturing, Spectrum Health Lakeland, and Whirlpool Corporation to see who collects the most. You can find out more right here.
