Congressman Justin Amash, who represents the Grand Rapids area, has competition for his seat from within his own Republican Party for 2020. State Representative Jim Lower  of Greenville pushed up his announcement when Amash called for President Donald Trump’s impeachment over the weekend on Twitter.

“We need more of having a collaborative ‘let’s get things done’ attitude in Washington DC, and if you look at the congressman, he’s basically almost never gotten a bill done,” said Lower. “The only one he’s ever passed renamed a post office in Lake Odessa, and he’s always off on an island not working with the (Republican) caucus, not working with the President.”

Lower says he’s a pro-Trump, pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, pro-family values Republican. Amash says he’s read the entire Mueller report and believes not only did the President engage in impeachable conduct, but that Attorney General William Barr is misleading people about what’s in the document.

Trump also responded on Sunday to Amash, calling him a “lightweight” who opposes him just to get his name out. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Detroit tweeted to Amash that if he’s serious about impeachment, he should visit her office to sign on as a co-sponsor to her legislation calling for the process to begin.
