Governor Gretchen Whitmer has heard the message coming out of Benton Harbor the past two weeks. At a Tuesday board of education meeting regarding the proposed closure of Benton Harbor High School, Whitmer spokesperson Poppy Hernandez read a message straight from the governor to the community.

“‘I look forward to visiting Benton Harbor in the coming days and hearing your feedback on how we can get every student on the path to success,’” Hernandez read.

Whitmer’s visit is this Wednesday, June 5. She’ll be at the Brotherhood of All Nations Church of God in Christ on Emory Avenue in Benton Harbor for another town hall at 4 p.m. Hernandez said Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist will be there, as well as some state department heads. Everyone is invited. Hernandez also said everyone is invited to visit Michigan.gov/BentonHarborSchools to learn more.
