President Donald Trump entered into a rift with a group of liberal Democratic congresswomen, including Michigan Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, over the weekend. In tweets Sunday, Trump portrays the lawmakers as foreign-born troublemakers who should go back to their home countries. U.S. Senator Gary Peters calls the tweets terrible.
“These tweets only are a distraction, and they make it more difficult for us to bring people together to solve these tough problems,” Peters said. “I’m hoping we can move beyond that. I certainly hope that the president acts presidential.”
Peters says we need to focus on what’s important to the people of this country and Michigan. Trump tweeted Monday the congresswomen ought to apologize to him for past remarks about about him.
