Set for Thursday, August 8 is the fourth United Way of Southwest Michigan Pop Up Giving event. It’s to take place at the LakeHouse Restaurant and Bar in St. Joseph from 5 to 7 p.m. The theme is “Pop the Collar” in honor of WSJM’s own Pat Moody, who has been known to wear his collars popped up. The United Way’s Jennifer Tomshack says Pop Up Giving is a way for the public to vote on a project pitched by one of three area non-profits.

“The three non-profits are the Avenue Family Network, CASA of Southwest Michigan, and and Senior Nutrition Services,” Tomshack said. “As every time, the three non-profits have three minutes to pitch a project that will impact the community, something specific they’d like to use the money for. Then the audience has five minutes to complete their ballots to pick the winner.”

Tomshack says the winner gets the night’s proceeds, and the second and third place finishers each get $250. Pop the Collar will be hosted by the mustachioed one himself, and you can get tickets online for $20. Just go here.
