Lake Michigan College President Trevor Kubatzke has received a passing grade from the LMC Board of Trustees. The board this week gave Kubatzke a positive performance evaluation and extended his contract by another year, through 2022. Kubatzke tells WSJM News it’s fantastic to have a good relationship with the board.

“We someone from education, we have someone from business, we have someone from marketing,” Kubatzke said. “It just makes my job easier and ultimately, the college can move much faster.”

Kubatzke started with LMC in 2017. He says his time here has been a whirlwind of construction.

“We’re finishing up about $43 million in construction projects. We had our ribbon cutting of the new Welch Wine and Viticulture Center this week, which we had over 300 people in the community come out and join us to celebrate that. We opened the Todd Center last year for business education and computer sciences.”

Kubatzke also says LMC is always adding to its course offerings, pointing to the new truck driving program and new energy programs. He says what’s unique about southwest Michigan and Lake Michigan College is that the college is so integral to the community. Prior to coming to LMC, Kubatzke was the vice president for student services at Milwaukee Area Technical College.
