Coming to Bloomingdale Middle and High School this week is a series of activities designed to help the kids overcome peer pressure, make good decisions, and to be friendlier with one another. Principal Mary Spade tells us Challenge Day will be held for grades eight through twelve. It will set aside an entire day in each grade for motivational talks.

“Students and staff alike, they go through games, they go through small group demonstrations, they go through big group activities and demonstrations,” Spade said. “It brings about a sense of family by the end of the day, a commitment to each other that youi’re going to be nice to each other and to try to understand where somebody else is coming from.”

Spade says Challenge Day is being brought back to the school after it was held there years ago. They’re looking to address the issues of violence, teasing, social oppression, racism, harassment, suicide, peer pressure, and drugs. The first Challenge Day is this Thursday, and events will continue through next week. You can find out more about Challenge Day right here.
