A flash flood watch is in effect for Berrien and Cass counties from the National Weather Service office in northern Indiana. Forecasters say widespread rainfall totals of 1.5 to 2″ with locally higher amounts in the watch area are expected throughout the evening. Intense downpours from thunderstorms will allow rain to quickly runoff and cause flash flooding of streets, fields, and lowland areas.

The flash flood watch is in effect until late Friday night. This afternoon’s storms have already prompted Lakeshore High School to postpone tonight’s varsity football game against Portage Central to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Al Stockman Stadium in Stevensville.
