To get into the spirit of the fall, Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve in Niles has constructed a house made of pumpkins. It says the life-sized garden attraction will provide a good backdrop for photos this season. The pumpkin house was made possible by funding from the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation, which says Fernwood’s educational and preservation efforts fit nicely into the organization’s mission. Support was also received from The Whirlpool Foundation. Fernwood says anyone who visits Tuesdays through Sundays now through Thanksgiving can check out the pumpkin house.
