The eleventh annual Two Rivers Coalition annual meeting will be next month in Lawrence. Two Rivers Coalition President Kevin Haight tells WSJM News the group works to protect the Black River and Paw Paw River watersheds. Its annual meeting will include updates on key programs throughout the past year.

“One of our most popular things that we do is macroinvertebrate sampling in rivers, and what that means is you can tell something about the quality of streams by what kinds of insects live there,” Haight said.

Haight says the kids love to help out with collecting bugs from waterways each year. Other Two Rivers Coalition programs include river clean-ups and E. coli testing, this year with sniffer dogs. The keynote speaker at the annual meeting will be Chickaming Open Lands Director Ryan Postema, who will go over unique ecosystems in southwest Michigan. The meeting will be open to the public and held at the Van Buren Conference Center on November 7. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
