If your family is hosting Thanksgiving this year, it will cost just a little bit more than a year ago. Noelle Nachreiner is the executive director of the Michigan Ag Council with Michigan Farm Bureau and has the results of Farm Bureau’s 34th annual survey of the holiday meal cost.

“The study showed that it only rose 1¢ to $48.92 for a feast for ten people,” Nachreiner tells WSJM News.

What was included? Turkey, of course, but also ham for the main course.

“In addition to stuffing, pumpkin pie mix, cranberries and other items,” including potatoes.

Turkey prices are down 4% from last year, averaging $20,80 for a 16-pound bird or around $1.30 per pound. Retail turkey prices are at their lowest level since 2010.
