The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is promoting the 211 hotline this month. Analyst Jon Breems tells WSJM News 211, run by United Way organizations around the state, connects people with help when they’re struggling.

“211 is a statewide helpline that can connect residents with over 30,000 resources across the state based on whatever types of needs they have,” Breems said. “For example, you can call 211 and get assistance with things like food, shelter, utilities, childcare.”

So when you call 211, you’ll be connected to your local United Way. Breems says since 2018, Michigan residents have used the MI Bridges service more than 750,000 times to search for help in their area. He tells those who are struggling to start seeking help by calling the hotline. You can find out more right here.
