The chief of the Pokagon Tribal Police Department will be honored with an award from a southwest Michigan Boy Scout council this week. Chief William Lux has been picked to receive the 2020 Soaring Eagle Award from the LaSalle Council of the Boy Scouts at a ceremony in Dowagiac on Thursday. The Boy Scouts says the Soaring Eagle Award recognizes a person whose leadership in business, industry, government, education, social work, or other endeavors has contributed significantly to the growth and vitality of the community. The council will present the honor to Chief Lux at the Pokagon Justice Center at 6:15 p.m. On hand as guest speakers will be Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey and Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Tribal Chair Mathew Wesaw. Also at the event, the Pokagon Tribal Police Department will receive the Good Turn Award for supporting the development of youth leadership training in the community.
