State Senate Intern Dies From COVID-19

Friends and family are mourning the loss of a 24-year old political intern who died from what is believed to have been complications from COVID-19. Ben Hirschmann was from the Detroit suburb of Roseville and died yesterday. He worked for state Senator Pete Lucido of Macomb County.

“His bright smile, his glow when he’d come into a room, and his love for America – that’s what you’ll always remember about Ben Hirschmann,” Lucido told the Michigan News Network. The Republican lawmaker called his late intern “a patriotic symbol of what this country stands for, all the goodness. He didn’t have a bad bone in his body, and he never said nothing wrong about anyone.”

A statement from Hirschmann’s family says, in part: “He was full of love and compassion .. The loss is not definable”
